THE GRADUATES OF THE GHANA HAIRDRESSERS AND BEAUTICANS ASSOCIATION

Two of the 60 graduates waiting on the ceremony to start.

The awarding of diplomas can be a quite boring exercise for the young graduates and their parents. Not so in Ghana, where I was a guest on such a party in one of the suburbs of Accra, the capital of Ghana. Graduation becomes there a party, a real dance party where everyone, the board members of the Ghana Hairdressers and Beauticans Association, the graduates, their parents and friends - go on the dance floor. Everything happens through dancing.

One of the embers of the Association also waiting on the start of the ceremony.

The graduation event takes place on a very hot Sunday afternoon. Once the ceremonies have been opened the master puts a chair with a large plastic basket on it, in the middle of the dance floor. To my surprise everybody goes dancing to the chair to throw their gift in the plastic basket.

This woman felt so good that she started to dance without waiting for the opening of the ceremony.

It starts with the parents and their friends. They are followed by the members of the board of the Association, the special guests and of course the graduates themselves.
After the opening ceremony the party continues with the presentation of the diplomas to the graduates and even more important the prizes for those who have the most beautiful hairstyle.

The invited parents and friends are the first who went dancing to the chair to leave their gift in the plastic basket.

The guests were followed by the members of board who also went dancing to the chair.
Behind them the table with the prizes for the best and most beautiful hairstyles.

The Board of the Ghana Hairdressers and Beauticans are introduced to the public.
